It was all Aunt Angela's fault, really, because it was she who sent Jennings The Ideal Printing Outfit for his birthday, and so started a chain of events which involved Jennings and the patient Darbishire in endless difficulties.
Jennings' inventive brain, of course, seized eagerly upon the boundless possibilities of his new possession, most fruitful of which was 'The Form Three Times'. When this extraordinary journal was launched on Linbury Court School, its Editor, Sports Reporter and Press Photographer all bore the name J.C.T. Jennings; arduous and less spectacular posts were filled, sometimes reluctantly, by C.E.J. Darbishire. The latter was rather a flop as Foreign Correspondent, and when an important interview with some French fishermen resulted, entirely unexpectedly, in a present of raw fish, the two newshawks found themselves in an embarrassing situation - the first of many...
